Tetra Pak offers Chinese dairy sector support
Tetra Pak is launching its “raw milk support programme” in China featuring establishment of a dairy research centre in cooperation with the People’s University of China (Renda) as well as an online and TV-based virtual college for training dairy farmers.
The research centre, now named the Renda-Tetra Pak Dairy Research Centre, will carry out economic studies and investigate ways of supporting the expansion of milk production in China. Another target will be training of officials and researchers for the country’s milk production and processing sectors. Tetra Pak executive vice-president Nils Bjorkman says the company’s raw milk support programme in China is aimed at helping the sector expand production in a time of worldwide raw milk shortage. The Scandinavian packaging company was mainly responsible for setting up China’s school milk programme eight years ago, which now provides two million Chinese schoolchildren with milk.
