US organic dairy to alter practices

US-based Aurora Organic Dairy has agreed to stop applying the organic label to some of its milk and make major changes in its operations after threats to revoke its organic certification.

The US Department of Agriculture criticised the dairy for, among other problems, failing to provide enough pasture for its cows. The dairy supplies private-label organic milk for many supermarket chains, and must also remove some animals from its organic herd.
