Mexican dairy to be bought by juice maker
Plans to buy dairy company Santa Clara Mercantil de Pachuca are underway by Jugos del Valle SAPI, a juicemaker partly owned by Coca-Cola, according to a filing with Mexico’s antitrust regulator and Bloomberg News. Jugos del Valle’s owners also include Coca-Cola Femsa SAB, the largest Coke bottler in Latin America, and other Coke bottlers. The purchase of Santa Clara, based in Pachuca, Mexico, would add milk, ice cream and yogurt to fruit juices that Jugos del Valle has sold since its inception in 1947. Santa Clara, founded in the Mexican city of Pachuca in 1924, has 160 ice cream parlours across the country.
