FDA faces Organic Pastures in lawsuit
The US Food and Drug Administration has had a lawsuit filed against it by US raw milk dairy Organic Pastures, for allegedly failing to respond to its petition to amend a law that forbids the sale of raw milk products across state lines. Nearly four years have passed since the original written petition, and under federal law the FDA has up to 180 days to respond to a petition. As a result, the dairy has obtained a writ for the agency to take action. Currentlym the FDA warns against raw milk products, saying it can carry dangerous bacteria such as Salmonella and E.coli.
