Amul Dairy opens plant near Mumbai, India

Amul Dairy in India has organised co-operative societies in Maharashtra, with the commissioning of its Virar Dairy project. The dairy has already set up four village level co-operative societies with membership of 500 farmers. More are expected to join. The Virar dairy has installed capacity of one million litres (10 lakh) of milk processing per day. The newly set up dairy plant on 11 acre of land will cater to the consumers of Mumbai city and its suburbs with fresh milk and milk products.
