Germany’s largest dairy, the 6.9 billion kg milk per year Deutsches Milchkontor (DMK), says this autumn that it is continuing to invest in one of Europe’s largest whey processing plants – the cooperative dairy’s 4 million kg whey/day Altentreptow drying facility near the Polish border in northeastern Germany. The foundations were laid back in 2006 but continued demand for dried whey products has meant capacity expansion there has never stopped, according to a DMK announcement. Main products from Altentreptow are whey protein concentrates (WPC), lactose and various other powders.
