Grameen Danone Foods opens plant in Bangladesh
Grameen Danone Foods Ltd, a joint venture between four Grameen companies and French Danone, has been set up to provide nutrition-rich yogurts for children in Bangladesh.
The company was inaugurated by French football star Zinedine Zidane at a function in Dhaka, which marked the start of production at the first plant of the company in Bogra, Bangladesh.
The yogurt, Shakti Doi, will be made from full cream milk and contain protein, vitamins, iron, calcium and zinc to fulfil the nutritional needs of the children. The initial price has been set with a view to be affordable to low-income groups.
