Crediton installs filling line

Crediton Dairy of the UK has completed a £2.2 million (€2.7m)  investment in the installation of a high speed filling line.  The line, manufactured in Japan by Shikoko, is capable of filling at a rate of 14,000 litres per hour and is the fastest and most advanced such system in the UK, the company says.  It will be dedicated to the production of Extended Shelf Life (ESL) flavoured and functional milk drinks.

The new filler will help Crediton Dairy meet increasing demand for its existing ESL products and provide a platform for the launch of a range of new milk drinks planned over the next 18 months.  At the same time Crediton, working with its packaging partner Elopak, will leverage greater production efficiencies and maximise the flexibility of the new line in terms of its ability to handle a range of different carton sizes and improved designs.

Commenting on the investment Tim Smiddy, Managing Director of Crediton Dairy says, “The new line complements Crediton’s existing modern, self-contained and well-invested production facilities which are amongst the very best in the industry.  Since 2010 the dairy has benefited from around £10 million of investment in new processing equipment and plant upgrades and this is allowing us to deliver high levels of processing efficiency, product quality and customer service.”
