DMK releases results

Deutsches Milchkontor is by far the biggest dairy group in Germany, with domestic revenue alone reaching almost €3 billion in 2013. DMK is twice as big as any of its three nearest competitors in the country, which are Theo Müller, Arla Foods and FrieslandCampina.
“With the considerable rise in turnover, an increase in net profit to €51.7 million and a stable equity ratio of 35%, we are on a very sound footing economically. The good operating profit has put us in a position to invest in order to give our company the optimum position for a successful future on the German and international markets,” says Deutsches Milchkontor CEO Josef Schwaiger (pictured).
Deutsches Milchkontor also has a large export business, and 44.5% of the total revenue of €5.3 billion is accounted for by exports. “We will only be able to secure competitive long-term milk prices for our shareholders if we combine our strong position in the domestic market with the development potential in Eastern Europe, Asia and the emerging economies,” Schwaiger thinks.
Due to the excellent result last year the milk money to the DMK farmers has risen by 19% to €0.374 per kilogram. DMK has 9,400 farmers and they delivered 6.7 billion kilograms of raw milk in 2013 – 100,000 million more than in 2012.
