Clover and Fonterra form joint venture

The South African arm of New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra has formed a joint venture with Clover, South Africa’s largest dairy company.

The two companies have formed Clover Fonterra Ingredients, which will market bulk dairy ingredients, mainly milk powder. It will also carry out contract ingredient manufacturing and supply food service products in parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

CFI will be headed by Clover executive Pieter Uys. Clover processes around a third of South Africa’s milk, mainly for the retail market.
