Stilton stars in TV campaign

UK – British TV stars are pledging their support in a campaign to raise awareness of osteoporosis in the UK.

Stephen Fry, Helen Mirren, Honor Blackman, Nigel Havers, Terry Wogan, Melinda Messenger, Susan Hampshire and Tara Palmer Tomkinson, are just a few of the many celebrities taking part in the campaign.

They aim to raise awareness of the National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) by choosing a favourite meal from a new summer recipe collection to support the campaign, initiated by the Stilton Cheese Makers Association (SCMA) and jointly funded by the Milk Development Council (MDC).

He added: “A small piece of stilton (30 grams) contains about one seventh of the average recommended daily intake of calcium for an adult.” He advised that the Stilton plus a 150 gram pot of yogurt and half a pint of semi-skimmed milk would give all the daily calcium needed.
