UK – Wensleydale Creameries, a Yorkshire-based cheesemaker, has released a curious combination of Red Leicester with Blue Stilton, known as Melton Red.

The distinctive cheese’s components were chosen because of the balance the nutty aroma of the Leicester and the strength of the Stilton provide, according to Wensleydale’s production director Alice Amsden.

The cheese will be available in Asda supermarkets from now and over the Christmas period, and Sainsbury’s stores from 8 December.
