Food Standards Agency targets dairy
UK – The UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) has this month launched a campaign to get people to eat less salt, and dairy products are high on the list of foods to avoid.
Cheese was among the FSA’s list of ‘less obviously salted foods’, but the government body also released advice on foods that are high in saturated fat, which can cause heart disease.
It highlighted seven categories of such high saturated fat foods, and this included hard cheese, cream and butter, which included ghee and lard. The FSA advised reducing the amount of these foods in people’s diets.
