Tesco reports boom in goats cheese

UK – Supermarket chain Tesco has reported that a surge in demand for goats’ cheese has given the goat farming industry a massive boost.

According to the company, which has seen demand for the cheese rise by 53% over the last three years, many of its suppliers are increasing their herd numbers, while other farmers have started producing goats cheese for the first time.

Government figures show that the number of goats in the UK has risen from 74,000 in 2001 to 88,000 in 2003.
