DMK moves ice cream administration

German dairy group DMK is relocating the administration of its Rosen-Eiskrem (an ice cream unit), located in Waldfeucht-Haaren, to Everswinkel by the end of 2017.

The 37 employees in Waldfeucht-Haaren are being offered jobs in Everswinkel. The rest of the production plant at the Waldfeucht-Haaren site will not be affected.

In other news, the Ministry of Agriculture in the German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is looking for alternatives to maintain the DMK dairy plant in Bergen on the island of Rügen.

State secretary Jürgen Buchwald has met with the management of Deutsches Milchkontor, which wants to close the site in mid-2019.

DMK is open to the preservation of the Bergen site by non-industry investors, the ministry said after the talks.
