Hochdorf sells its Lithuania site

Hochdorf Group of Switzerland has sold its Hochdorf Baltic Milk UAB site, a milk protein plant in Medeikiai, Lithuania. It has been taken over by a group of Lithuanian investors.
The dairy plant was Hochdorf’s first in the European Union in 2010. Hochdorf’s Uckermärker Milch plant in Prenzlau, Germany, which was purchased at the end of 2014, offers a higher level of technology and volume, the company says.
Current low protein prices on the international market and high milk prices in Lithuania due to agricultural policies resulted in Hochdorf completing a review of the plant.
The reason given for the purchase of the plant in 2010 was for a production site in the EU and synergies in the milk protein sector. Due to the development of the Hochdorf Group in recent years with various further acquisitions and participations in the EU area, the strategic utility of the plant is now estimated to be significantly lower.
