GERMANY – The board of directors appointed at Nordmilch four months ago has already announced some major changes at the company.

Although restructuring was expected, there is some surprise at the extent of the restructuring measures announced at the beginning of this month by board spokesman and company director Stephen Tomat.

The biggest shock was that it is likely that 11 of Nordmilch’s 21 plants will be closed down within the next four years, from 21 to 10. This consolidation will affect the jobs of more than 1,000 employees, nearly a quarter of the company’s workforce.

Among other changes announced by the board is the concentration of core businesses and product ranges. One of its best known dairy brands, Milram drinking milk and coffee cream, is going to receive greater focus and expand its range of products.
