The European Union Court of Justice has passed a judgement that takes the protection granted to products of designated origin (PDO) to a new level.

The latest ruling focuses on the Italian Grana Padano cheese, which the Court of Justice says must not only be produced in the correct region, but also grated and packaged there as well.
