Soft drinks companies launch milk drinks
UK/USA – Two soft drinks companies have announced the launches of milk drinks this week.
In the USA, Dr Pepper/Seven Up is set to launch a flavoured dairy drink called Raging Cow next month. In the UK, soft drinks manufacturer Britvic is launching a milk and fruit juice blend called Freekee.
Britvic claims that its juice and milk mix, which took three years to develop, gives a fizzy yet smooth texture. Aimed at children, Britvic is hoping that the drink will spawn a new drinks sub-category that it calls ‘texture-based fizz’ and a sensation it refers to as ‘smizziness’.
The drink contains no added sugar, is fortified with calcium and contains 4% skimmed milk and 7% fruit juice.
The drink is available in Strange Strawberry and Odd Orange flavours and is sold in 330ml resealable metallic, shaped and embossed bottles.
Raging Bull is a more conventional milk drink, but Dr Pepper/Seven Up hopes that it’s unusual flavours, which include Pina Colada Chaos and Chocolate Caramel Craze.
