CANADA – Dairy processor Saputo has announced its results for the year to March 31, with earnings boosted by the acquisition of Dairyworld in February.

Saputo reported that earnings for the period were C$160.2 million (111.2 million euro), up 29.1% on last year. The company reported that the integration of its Canadian business with Dairyworld helped performance. It also said that earnings from its operations in the USA increased.

Saputo added that sales for the year were 2.4 billion euro, 60% up on the same period last year. It said that 90% of this increase was through Dairyworld sales. The company attributed the rest of the increase to increased sales from its business in the USA.

In February, Saputo completed the acquisition of the milk and cheese operations of Dairyworld Foods for around 290 million euro.
