Brazil’s first dairy specific export agency launched
BRAZIL – The first trading company specialising in selling Brazilian dairy products on the global market has been formed.
Called Serlac, the company has been created by Brazilian dairy processors Embare and Ilpisa and co-operatives Itambe, Confepar and Cooperativa Central de Leite do Estado de Sao Paulo. Trading firm Sertrading will run the new agency.
The company is expected to export 10,000 tonnes of milk products in its first year.
In 2001, Brazil produced 20.8 billion litres of milk, imported 805 million litres and exported 100 million litres.
