Butlers win big at International Cheese Awards

Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses went home with 29 awards at this year’s International Cheese Awards.

The cheesemaker achieved Gold and Silver awards across its range of cheeses, including a Gold award for its Kidderton Ash goat’s cheese, which is covered in ash to form a distinctive finish to its rind.

Other wins included Blacksticks Blue (Gold), Trotter Hill (Gold), Stratford Blue (Silver), Beacon Blue (Silver), Button Mill (Silver), Mrs Butler’s (Silver) and Smouldering Ember (Silver), which won on its first show outing to date.

Matthew Hall, commercial director said: “Seeing so many of our cheeses receiving awards is absolutely fantastic and testament to the hard work and skill of our cheesemakers. It’s an incredibly proud moment for the company, and really proves that it’s possible to create the perfect award-winning cheeseboard from our farmhouse range.”

All the milk for Butlers’ cheese comes from within a 10 mile radius of the dairy and is mainly sourced from members of the family who have farmed the Lancashire countryside for over 100 years.

Several new NPD launches are expected from the company later this year, including specialist Christmas products.
