Emmi reports exports up
While other Swiss milk processors report disappointing export results due to the strength of the franc, the country’s largest dairy business reports sales increases both at home and abroad for the first half of 2011.
In fact, while domestic market turnover managed a 1.2% increase on the same period of the previous year to CHF 943.7 million (EUR782.4m), Emmi’s export business (earnings CHF 366.4 m) represented an increase in sales of 6.8%, according to the latest figures presented by CEO Urs Riedener in Lucerne. This was pure organic growth, too, with no figures included from recent Emmi acquisitions, in the US for instance.
Among the best performers for Emmi in the last months has been Onken yogurt in the UK, goat cheeses from the purchased Cypress Grove Chè,vre in the US and, in Italy, Trentina products.
