Food companies join forces to launch functional yogurt range

GERMANY – Two of Europe’s best-known food companies are co-operating in the production of a new line of functional dairy products, due to be launched onto the German market in January.

Campina, under licence from slimming and health product manufacturer natreen, will launch Good Morning and Break Time. The Good Morning brand includes two fruit yogurts and a yogurt drink, all enriched with vitamin A, C and E to provide at least 20% of the average adult daily requirements.

The Break Time range includes eating and drinking yogurts enriched with calcium and magnesium to provide 30% of the average daily requirements. They also contain the probiotic additive oligofructose for improved digestion and metabolism.

The eating yogurts contain added fruit and have a fat content limited to 1.5%. They will be marketed in 175g pots, with a recommended retail price of 0.49 euro per pot. The new drinks will be available in orange and lime with green tea flavours, and will be packaged in 200ml polyethylene bottles selling at between 0.55 euro and 0.59 euro. Permission has been granted for marketing the products in other countries.
