Tirol Milch in Austria gains climate positive status

Tirol Milch in Austria describes itself as officially climate positive and the dairy has just received an award from Fokus Zukunft as the first climate positive dairy in Austria.

The Berglandmilch subsidiary is one of the most modern milk processing companies in Central Europe. The energy is generated by photovoltaics and a wood chip heating plant. The waste heat from production is used to supply the equivalent of 640 local households with energy. The remaining emissions from Tirol Milch are offset by investments in a climate protection project in Asia.

Since the amount of emissions is low, the climate protection project offset multiple dairy emissions.
