Ireland’s Ennis Foods has launched what could rank as one of the product innovations of the year.
Rumblers is a new brand of snack designed to appeal to the UK’s hordes of breakfast cereal munchers. The pack design allows cereal and fresh milk to be held separately in one unit, with the milk stored in a lid sealed with a foil sheet. When pierced, the foil releases the liquid for pouring directly onto the cereal. A spoon with folding handle is included to provide total convenience.
The Rumblers varieties currently available are Fruit & Fibre (45g cereal), Honey Nut Cornflakes (40g cereal), Cereal Clusters with real strawberries (60g cereal) and Crispy Muesli (65g cereal).
All variants come with 125ml of fresh, semi skimmed milk. This has been pasteurised by Ennis on the new Charles Wait (Process Plant) extended life milk production system. The process is said to offer a 28 day shelf life without damaging taste quality (see page 23, this issue).
