Former NFU president joins Express
Sir David Naish, who recently stood down as president of the National Farmers’ Union, has become a non-executive director of Express Dairies.
The move looks a shrewd one for Express. Like many other processors, the company might see its relations with farmers strained over the coming months as the Monopolies & Mergers Commission investigates milk distri-bution in the UK. It will also no doubt help Express achieve its aim of buying 100% of its raw milk from farmers.
At the same time, John Price has resigned as director general of the Dairy Industry Federation to become company secretary of Express once the demerger is complete.
