Agristat emphasises importance of cheese production in Switzerland

Cheese production is becoming increasingly important for the Swiss dairy industry, according to Agristat, the statistical service of the Swiss Farmers’ Union.

In 2021, 47.6% of the Swiss milk was processed into cheese and curd, while in 2011 it was only 42.0 %.

The amount of milk processed decreased slightly during this period, from 3446 million kilograms in 2011 to 3381 million kilograms in 2021 (-1.9 %).
