Hochwald and FrieslandCampina join forces for condensed milk

Hochwald and FrieslandCampina have agreed to join forces in the production of sweetened and unsweetened condensed milk in the Netherlands. This was agreed in a contract with a term spanning several years.

This will enable both companies to align their manufacturing process chains sustainably and focus on optimising production cycles. In the words of Detlef Latka, chief executive officer of Hochwald: “Creating added value for members is a top priority for cooperatives. This is a creative example of how companies can work together as equals.”

The plan is to relocate the production of sweetened condensed milk from FrieslandCampina to the Hochwald location in Bolsward on 1 June 2026. At the same time, FrieslandCampina will produce condensed milk in Leeuwarden for the plant in Bolsward. This step will enable both companies to improve the sustainability and resilience of their production and safeguard their competitiveness in the market, the companies say.

David Cutter, chief supply chain and R&D officer for Royal FrieslandCampina, explains: “FrieslandCampina must stay cost-efficient, sustainable and future-proof. That is also why we constantly look for ways to optimise our production network. By partnering with Hochwald, we are not only optimising our production processes, but also bolstering our competitiveness.”
