Figures published by the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food show that household purchases of milk and cream in Britain during the second quarter of 1999 fell 6% on the same period in 1998. Higher consumption of skimmed milk and dairy desserts only partially offset a marked reduction in the consumption of whole milk.
