Hong Kong merchant house Hutchison Hain has ordered baby foods based on Swiss organically produced milk from the processor Hochdorf, which has been selling baby food for 102 years.
The company processes between 300 and 400 million kg milk annually and exports to 60 countries, although this is the first time that its bio-baby food is being shipped to China.
Group spokesman Christoph Hug comments that strong growth is expected from the new China connection because the demand for Swiss baby food is growing everywhere. The group dairy at Sulgen is currently installing a new spray-drying tower to help cope with the increasing demand. Nowadays the most popular baby milk brand from Hochdorf is Alpen.
