Colruyt launches ‘low mileage’ drinking milk

“Major Belgian food company Colruyt has launched a ‘low-mileage’ drinking milk in its main OKay supermarket chain.

The company made the decision to launch the product as a reaction, it claims, to customer concern about environmental damage through long-distance dairy product deliveries.

The ESL milk comes from farms that are all less than 30km from the processing plant in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. The milk has a best before date 28 days from filling and is delivered under Okay’s own Galaxi label to 100 outlets in Belgium in one-litre plastic screwtop bottles.
