Saputo closes Vermont plant
Saputo Inc has announced the closure of its US cheese manufacturing plant in Hinesburg, Vermont.
The facility was damaged by a fire on September 29, 2008, which resulted in production being transferred to other Saputo facilities in the US. In all, around 80 employees will be affected, some of whom will be offered the chance to transfer to other plants within the Dairy Products Division (USA).
The decision is part of the company’s continual analysis of its overall activities and the implementation of measures aimed at improving its operational efficiency.
