Tis the season of good cheer
Here at the Dairy Industries International headquarters, we are getting ready for the Christmas season. And what a sight it is in the local supermarkets – the end caps, usually given over to sale offers for meats and crisps, are stuffed full of cheese gifties. Here in the UK, a lot of cheese is consumed at the holidays, and the little pots of Stilton are my personal favourites. And there is nothing better than a cheese board during the festive season. Truthfully, I’d rather have the cheese board and a bit of salad on the side, and skip the rest of the meal.
Another UK favourite is the alcohol-infused butter. Brandy is the usual tipple, but French companies have cottoned onto this unusual treat for British consumers and now cognac-infused butters are available over here as well.
It’s all good news as the scientific evidence continues to pile up that full-fat dairy, far from being a troublesome contributor to obesity, may actually provide quite useful heart-healthy nutrition to people from every walk of life. Don’t miss our upcoming January issue for the full report from Julain Mellentin of New Nutrition Business about what the real culprits are on the dinner table for health problems.
In the meantime, I wish you all a very happy holiday season and many guilt-free visits to that cheese board. See you in 2014.
