A2 aims for US market

New Zealand-based A2 Corp is set to establish a US subsidiary to market its A2 milk brand in the Americas, according to its results. A2 is targeted at lactose-intolerant consumers and is made using milk from cows producing the A2 beta casein instead of A1. The firm is recruiting a management team for the venture and plans are for the brand to be at a natural foods exhibition in California in March.
A2 has seen growth in the UK and Australia, while sales in the half-year ending December 2013 increased by 22% to NZ$54 million (€32.8m). A2 has also begun selling infant formula in China.
