Germany’s appetite for milk drinks and other fresh milk products such as yogurts and whey is not faltering. The recent increase has given this country the highest per capita consumption in the world in this category, according to the country’s central market and price reporting agency ZMP. Consumption has risen by exactly five kg per head over the last ten years to 94.8 kg in 2005.
Some two-thirds of this total has been taken over mainly by flavoured milk drinks, drinking yogurts and the more conventional yogurt products, reports ZMP. And consumption per head for this sector increased by 6kg over the decade to 29kg for 2005.
