Co-operatives team up for whey processing

GERMANY – Co-operatives Nordmilch and Humana Milchunion have announced a joint whey plant, despite calling off a full merger deal late last year.

The companies plan to produce over 80,000 tonnes of whey-based product from a new jointly owned plant at Altentreptow. Scheduled to start production in mid-2006, the plant will use whey from each company’s cheese operations and also from other companies.
