Gruyère production drops

Switzerland has reduced production of Gruyère cheese as of 1 April by 10%. This was decided by Swiss organisation, Interprofession du Gruyère, on account of falling sales abroad. Orders fell sharply in January, especially in France.
Interprofession du Gruyère calls for the milk, when it becomes excessive, not to be used for producing Gruyère or any other cheese. The restriction applies to conventional and organic Gruyère AOP, but Alp-Gruyère AOP is not affected.
