US butter deal agreed with North Wales dairy

A Welsh food centre of excellence has secured a deal to sell its butter in more than 400 stores across America. The move will see Bodnant Dairy’s butter being sold in all of Trader Joe’s outlets in the States. Bosses at Bodnant Welsh Food Centre in the Conwy Valley say they are delighted with the deal.
Debbie Leviseur, of Bodnant Dairy, says, “To have a deal to sell our butter in so many outlets across America is a fantastic achievement. Trader Joe’s now has more than 400 convenience stores and operates in every part of the States. The deal means they will have our butter in all their stores and comes about because they are keen to stock innovative and hard to find foods their customers would probably not be able to find elsewhere.
“Of course, we would like to think it is also because our butter is a very good product and one they were very keen to get in. Bodnant is committed to excellence and our products often attract interest from abroad. There have been concerns about the effect Brexit will have on trade and no-one seems to know exactly what will happen after we leave the EU. But we are confident our products will continue to sell well and attract the interest of buyers – wherever they may be.
“Trader Joe’s have a policy of buying direct from the supplier wherever possible. This helps to keep prices attractive for their many customers. The company was a pleasure to deal with and we are confident that the relationship we have established will be a long and beneficial one.”
Bodnant marketing manager Kerry Sidney adds, “Bodnant prides itself on providing the very best in Welsh foods, the majority of which is sourced locally. Our farm shop features a range of foods, including award-winning products handmade in our on-site dairy.
“We have visitors from all over the world who visits our centre and the many services and products we provide. It is great to know we will now be having a major presence in the American market.”
