Milk Link takeover of Peninsula completed
UK – Dairy co-operative Milk Link has bought Peninsula Milk Processors for an undisclosed sum.
Peninsula is based in Okehampton in the south west of England and produces fresh milk and fresh clotted creams for major retail, catering and manufacturing customers.
Milk Link said that the acquisition of Peninsula would give it added capacity of 30-50 million litres of milk a year, with the added bonus that transport costs will be low as it is located in the same area as Milk Link.
The deal follows Milk Link’s takeover of Newlands Farm, another liquid milk processor that is based in Cornwall, in December.
“We are delighted to have acquired Peninsula’s new, well invested production facilities right in our membership homeland,” said Barry Nicholls, Milk Link’s chief executive. “By increasing our processing capacity in the south west, we will be able to reduce transportation costs and in addition provide a platform for regionally branded products.”
