UK – Robert Wiseman continued to strengthen its grip on the UK dairy industry in the last financial year, but signalled a warning that it might drop its milk prices.

The company has expressed some concern over milk prices and its ability to remain competitive. It raised its prices by two pence per litre in October 2002, and stated that other major processors have access to milk at a lower base raw material cost than it does.

Wiseman says that it is committed to its price structure until the beginning of this month but is keeping a close eye on the situation, indicating it might consider cutting prices.
The company has reported that its sales volumes are up 11.7%, meaning that it has hit one of its goals: supplying over 1 billion litres of milk a year. It now has 20% of the UK milk market.
