Fonterra announces election results
NEW ZEALAND – Dairy giant Fonterra announced the results of its elections for its new board of directors on Monday.
Greg Gent and Earl Rattray have been re-elected as directors and are joined by Jim van der Poel in the co-operative’s first election of farmer directors. Van der Poel will take office from 1 June after signing a confidentiality agreement.
Shareholders’ council chairman John Wilson said that 6,690 shareholders voted in the election and that three new councillors had also been appointed.
Under Fonterra rules, one director and one councillor must retire and face election each year.
Also this week, Fonterra announced the appointment of Jody Stewart as director of corporate communications.
