Campina maps out future
NETHERLANDS – Dutch dairy co-operative Campina launched a review of its performance in 2001 this week, and set out its plans for the future.
The company said that it would concentrate on three main areas: regional liquid milk products, desserts and dairy snacks, and ingredients for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Campina also said that it would continue to focus on efficiency, international harmonisation and market focus. The company said it would continue to aim to compensate for dropping dairy prices through its branded and added value products.
For 2001, the co-op saw turnover of 3.9 billion euro, up on 2000. The company saw profit increases in Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia. In Germany costs of reorganisation kept profit down and in Russia the company saw turnover rocket 75%.
However, Campina said that the outbreak of foot and mouth in some countries cost the co-op a total of 7 million euro in 2001.
