Britain won’t impose trade tariffs on Cypriot halloumi

Britain has said it will not impose trade tariffs on imports of halloumi cheese from Cyprus if the UK withdraws from Europe without a deal, according to a post by The Times.
Over 12,000 tonnes of halloumi is imported from Cyprus every year – almost three quarters of the island’s entire halloumi production.
The pledge to impose no tariff was announced by the British high commissioner to the island amid a number of other negotiations between London and Nicosia designed to limit the impact of a no-deal withdrawal from the EU, of which Cyprus is a member state.
“The tariff on imported halloumi from Cyprus will be zero,” the commission posted on Twitter. “We know this will be warmly welcomed by Cypriot exporters and British consumers alike.”
