Commission backs Mars but Unilever will appeal
The European Commission has ordered Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Unilever to allow rival firms to share its ice cream freezers in Ireland.
The Commission was backing a seven year battle by US-based Mars to ban Unilever’s practice of lending freezers to retailers in the Republic on the basis that they stock only Unilever brands in them (see DII 63(2)6).
