My offspring’s birthday was this past weekend, and as he loaded up the clotted cream onto his scone, I thought, there is what dairy is about. It is not only good on its own, but dairy works very well with a carrier, such as a warm scone. He loves clotted cream, as seen in the photo. Who doesn’t?

Our Dairy Industries Expo is like that scone – we are an excellent carrier for dairy ideas and innovations. Our exhibitors will be showcasing their newest products and practices, and the speakers will be telling the dairy chain how this industry is helping to decarbonise the planet. As an employer of one in nine people on the planet, it is incumbent on dairy to lead the way so we can all continue to enjoy decent lives, have adequate nutrition and hopefully keep planet temperatures liveable.

The lineup is truly impressive, ranging from the Dairy UK’s Dr Judith Bryans to Tetra Pak and the Carbon Trust, along with Wrap. These NGOs, industry giants and people such as Razan Alsous of Yorkshire Dama and Karen Halten of Halton Farms are on the frontlines of climate change, in their businesses and in their lives.

The University of Strathclyde and Plumpton College will be offering insights into programmes such as the Digital Dairy Chain in Scotland and the future leaders of the dairy industry in training, providing land-based and environmental education.

It promises to be a very exciting two days at NAEC Stoneleigh 29-30 October. I look forward to seeing everyone there. Register today! www.dairyindustriesexpo.com
