With the abolition of quotas approaching, Dairy Ireland is refocusing its efforts towards building greater stakeholder involvement in key dairy industry decisions, it says. It has launched a newsletter with a view to further farmer and stakeholder discussion on industry opportunities, and plans to raise greater awareness of key dairy industry expansion topics by emphasizing its new core values, the organisation states. These values are summarised as: Get Involved! – Dairy Ireland will encourage all dairy farmers to actively partake in decision-making processes surrounding production growth and market expansion;  building value – the organisation will focus on ensuring that any expansion of the industry will be profitable for farmers and help build long-term shareholder value in Irish dairy co-operatives; education and ensuring long-term profitable and sustainable growth.

Noting the changes Dairy Ireland chairman and dairy farmer, Kevin Twomey says, “The rebranding, and alignment of our new core values to our strategy brings further clarity and visibility to Dairy Ireland as we aim to achieve our goals of sustainable dairy industry growth, active stakeholder involvement, and positive, transparent development of a vibrant family owned, co-operative based dairy sector”. Dairy Ireland represents dairy farmer discussion groups in Ireland.
