JV to buy Chinese Danone plant

CHINA – China’s largest dairy processor Shanghai Bright Dairy & Food Co, is reported to be buying the Chinese unit of Danone for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will allow the Shanghai-based company to consolidate its market share in Guangzhou City and enter the Hong Kong and Macau markets.

Shanghai Bright & Dairy Food Co is a joint venture set up by six enterprises including Danone Asia. As part of the deal Danone’s branded products will continue to be produced.
