Dairy Crest launches spread, commissions starter tanks
UK – Dairy Crest has this week launched its Argento spread. It has also commissioned cheese starter tanks at its Aspatria creamery in Cumbria.
The Argento spread is a mix of buttermilk and olive oil. It will be sold in 500g tubs in UK multiples from June.
The launch will be supported by a sampling programme, with an advertising campaign scheduled for later in the year.
Dairy Crest has installed four stainless steel starter tanks, from Tetra Pak Processing UK, at its Aspatria plant. They have replaced existing tanks that had reached the end of their service life at the site, which produces Cheddar cheese.
The starter is produced by adding a culture to milk, which is cooled by water in the tanks’ jackets. Once ready, the starter is stored in the tanks until it is needed to make cheese.
The tanks use a Tetra Pak automatic routing system for filling, emptying and cleaning.
