Finnish dairy firm Valio is struggling to meet demand for butter in Finland, Sweden and Russia, according to reports. Due to insufficient milk supplies in the autumn, the company has been forced to reduce supply to Finland and Sweden. Butter consumption in Finland has increased by 30% compared with 2010, due to consumers using more natural products and the trend for low glycemic index diets. Butter prices are expected to increase as a result.
